L'artista espone le sue opere in questi giorni alla Hole Gallery, una delle più prestigiose gallerie d'arte contemporanea, situata nell'East Side of New York.
Il nostro Cazzaniga artisticamente nasce negli anni Settanta come fotografo di moda cavalca infatti tutti i set più glamour di quegli anni attraverso le sue immagini, che ora custodisce come icone all'interno della sua collezione personale.
Vive quegli anni appassionatamente tra Roma e la campagna toscana, ritraendo in ogni suo scatto anche quella vena di dimensione sociale tanto in voga in quegli anni. È un genio della macchina fotografica perché coglie l'anima e non solo il corpo delle immagini che scatta. Mi sono trovata più volte ad ammirarle insieme a lui e, alla moglie Ilka, nella sua splendida casa in quel di Soncino. Ho colto quella profondità di visione che solo un vero artista può dare.
Poi negli anni si trasferisce a New York. Ne passano ben quaranta da quando vive a Soho con la moglie Ilka Scobie (foto sopra) famosa poetessa newyorkese. Abbandona così lo scatto e, riscopre un nuovo Cazzaniga, attraverso delle sperimentazioni artistiche che solo lui conosce. Si innamora della visual art e, si fa accompagnare dalle sue nuove opere per tutti questi lunghi anni. Caratterizza ogni sua opera sempre comunque con quell'attenzione particolare al sociale, di cui lui è un fine interprete. E allora proietta le sue opere sui grattacieli di New York, sul castello di Soncino e, in ogni luogo dove qualcuno gli dà lo spazio che meritano.

Lo spazio è prestigioso, degno della sua arte, degno del suo cercare sempre e sperimentare ogni cosa nuova. Stiamo parlando della Hole Gallery di New York, una delle più prestigiose gallerie avanguardistiche della Grande Mela. E bravo Luigi! Con fini colori hai riempito il grigiore delle vie newyorkesi, che se pur abbellite per il Natale, rispecchiano la tristezza di questi giorni di serrata per Covid. The italian artist's collection opened few days ago at the Hole Gallery, one of the most prestigious art galleries in New York City.
Cazzaniga's career blossomed in the 70ies, when, as a fashion photographer, he raided in the most glamorous sets all over the world, thanks to his pictures; now, these pictures are kept as iconic jewels in his personal collection. In those years he lived a frenzy life between Rome and the Tuscany sun, capturing in snapshots the social dimension of the time. He is able to freeze, so to say, the soul of what he his witnessing, not just the bodies or the shapes: for every geometry, we are given an emotion.
I had the luck to observe such masterpieces in his home in Soncino, Cremona, Italy, together with him and his wife, Ilka. I have always been amazed by the deepness of such pictures: only a true artist can elicit such sense of wonder.
From Italy, he moved to New York City. Forty years have now passed since then; forty years in Soho, with Ilka, his beloved wife, a famous poetess of the City. New place, new life: he dropped his suit as photographer, and now he wears "a new Cazzaniga". The new skin is about experimenting: yes, art has to be discovered, and for every discovery we need a search. He fell in love pretty quickly with visual art: with his new skin, he is not abandoning the description, critique and analysis of the social world, in which we are embedded. It is just a different tool: the aim is still the same. We can now see a Cazzaniga projecting his works on skyscrapers in NY, on the ancient Soncino's fortress, and in any place that might marry his art.
In these Christmas days, he opened a new venture, a new exhibition. The place is very prestigious, and we might say it is the perfect place for his experimenting, for his continous search. This place is the Hole Gallery.
Good job Luigi! Bravo! With your warm and detailed colors, you have been able to light up the grey of the streets of the urban jungle, which are still crying for the Covid lockdown and pandemics.
